Scholarship Award Details

The JCS Beauty Nourish & Shine®️ Cosmetology Student Scholarship program is for people who identify as Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC).

Two (2) $5,000 scholarships are available during our Fall 2023 season open from September 1 – November 1, 2023.

Applicant Qualifications
The JCS Beauty Nourish & Shine®️ 2023 Cosmetology Student Scholarship requires the following qualifications to be eligible:

  • The scholarship is open to people who identify as Black/African American.
  • Must be a new or currently enrolled student in a cosmetology program that leads to licensure in the U.S. or Canada.
  • The applicant must be eighteen (18) years of age or older by the start date of the program at the accredited school or institution.

Application Requirements

  1. Complete online application and submit legible proof of enrollment for a cosmetology program by uploading either: an acceptance letter, progress report, or official letter from your school (include the name of the school and your first and last name on the form).
  2. Submit a 3-minute (maximum length), YouTube video with a public link answering the following questions:
  • How do you see HAIR as a tool for social change and how do you intend to make an impact?
  • JCS Beauty looks to inspire the next generation of beauty innovators. Name a beauty innovator that inspired you, why, and how will you inspire beauty for the next generation.
  • What is your beauty motto and briefly explain the meaning behind it?

Scholarship Details:

The Moroccanoil Courage to Dream Scholarship  was created to  honor  and encourage the education of anyone who has overcome overwhelming obstacles that have prevented them from pursuing their dream of a career in beauty. The scholarship recognizes the perseverance, tenacity and grit that distinguish so many beauty professionals’ paths to success. Whether a health burden, challenging life circumstances  or  other hardship, the  obstacles along the path can fuel a professional’s journey to success. This scholarship recognizes and celebrates those who believe their craft can make a difference and are willing to push through barriers to achieve their dream of a career in beauty.

The Darby Project: LGBTQIA+ Cosmetology Student Scholarship was created as a GoFundMe effort in February 2022 to honor and celebrate the life of Darby Backes. On behalf of Brian Backes, Diane Backes, Elizabeth Leary and WhiteRoom, we celebrate his legacy by establishing a scholarship in his name that is open to anyone who is identifies as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and is accepted or currently enrolled in a cosmetology program. #thedarbyprojectLGBTQ

Sugarlash PRO Lash Mastery Scholarship | Esthetics/Cosmetology Student Scholarship – BONUS Sugarlash PRO Partner Schools

Jerry Alexander Gorman lived a life dedicated to his passion for the professional beauty industry. As a young man, with a new family to support, he took evening classes to become a licensed cosmetologist, while working full-time during the day. His perseverance for success did not stop there. After working for years as a hairdresser, he soon opened his first salon, and many years later became a national sales manager for a major manufacturer of salon and home beauty products. After years of experience, he channeled his love for the industry and decided to give back by becoming a successful and beloved educator.

In that spirit, his family formed the Jerry Alexander Gorman Foundation in his memory in 2015. The foundation was created with its main emphasis on awarding scholarships for students, specifically to those living in lower income families, to support their education to any discipline within the professional beauty industry.

Scholarship Description & Award Information

The Jerry Alexander Gorman Foundation “The Passion to Succeed” Student Scholarship was formed to support those in need to achieve their goal of becoming a licensed professional. The scholarship will be awarded through the Beauty Changes Lives Foundation and is open to newly accepted or currently enrolled students in an esthetics or nail technology program that leads to licensure in the U.S.

Green Circle Salons’ – “Environmental Beauty” for all disciplines in the professional beauty industry that leads to licensure. This scholarship is open to accepted or currently enrolled cosmetology and barbering students in an accredited school or institution for the 2023-2024 programs and will be awarded through the Beauty Changes Lives Foundation.

The Beauty Industry creates 877 lbs. of waste per minute! Green Circle Salons’ is a movement to empower salons to offset their emissions and recover 95% of their beauty waste. GCS has been building a network of more than 16,000 Waste Warriors, schools and advanced academies throughout North America and providing them with a comprehensive pathway to financial and environmental sustainability with a green business program. Today, GCS Has diverted almost 8 ½ million pounds of waste from landfill spaces and waterways since 2009.

PCA SKIN® “Diversity in Esthetics” Student Scholarship requires the following qualifications to be eligible:

  • This scholarship is available to either an ethnic minority (including but not limited to: Black or African American; Hispanic or Latino; Native American; Pacific Islander; or Asian);
  • OR a person who identifies as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community;
  • OR a person with a medically documented disability, as defined by the World Health Organization (WHO).

The Sage Michaela Lucas “Timing is Everything” scholarship is generously funded by Circadia®, a pioneer in the science of chronobiology and skincare. Circadia® is again generously donating a total of $50,000 in Esthetics Scholarships for the Spring and Fall Season for the next two years. The Sage Michaela Lucas “Timing is Everything” award celebrates diversity, inclusivity, and affirmation.

The scholarship is open to esthetics students enrolled in an accredited program and who identify as black, indigenous and people of color (BIPOC). The scholarship grant targets esthetic students pursuing a career in aesthetics, skincare formulation and/or cosmetic chemistry.
