Easy Messy Bun Looks

Easy, Messy Bun Looks

Looking for some easy, messy bun looks? We’ve all had one of those mornings. You know, the – overslept, traffic is bumper to bumper, and you have an 8 o’clock meeting with your boss kind of mornings? The last thing you need is last night’s bedhead! Fortunately, you can take a little of the mayhem out of your morning when it comes to your hair with one of these messy bun styles that are not only easy but look effortlessly good in no time!

Tied in a knot

This messy bun works well on medium to long hair and starts with dividing your hair into two pigtail sections. Tie the sections together in a knot and place an elastic band around the knot. Divide the hair below the knot in two and tie it again, securing it with another elastic band. Roll up the knots and secure with bobby pins, leaving the ends out. Pull out a little hair at the crown to pump up a little volume and voila! You are ready to conquer the day!

Sock it to me bun

Start by gathering your hair into a high ponytail. If you’ve got a few old socks lying around, cut the toe end off and roll the sock into a ring and slide it onto your ponytail. Slide the sock to as close to the tip of your ponytail as possible and start rolling upward, gathering your hair as you go and tucking it under the side all around the side and through the center. Then hold the hair at the center and roll the fabric down, pulling the hair out and over it until you reach the crown and the “sock band” is completely covered.

Flipped over bun

Gather your hair into a low ponytail with an elastic band. Create a part above the elastic band to form a gap. Flip your ponytail up through the gap and down and then starting at the tip, roll the hair up over your fingers and tuck it down through the gap, securing with a few bobby pins.

Twisted top knot

Pull your hair high on top of your head into a ponytail. Hold the base of your ponytail and with the other hand, twist it tightly and then wind it around the base to form a bun. Slap on a cute scrunchie, add a few bobby pins, and you’re good to go!

Short hair half bun

Pull the hair just around your crown into an elastic band on top of your head and wind it into a smaller, messy bun that leaves the rest of your hair down.

Braidy-bun

If you have really long hair, pull it into a low or high ponytail with an elastic band and braid the length all the way down. Now, wind the braid around the base of your ponytail and pin it in place.
