At-Home Cold Weather Skin Care Tips
Looking for some at-home cold weather skin care tips? Cold weather doesn’t care about quarantine and it doesn’t take it any easier on your skin either. In fact, having to be inside with the heat on during the cold winter months, is just another cold weather skin problem to deal with. We may not all have 99 problems, but we have more than enough to deal with right now without the dry, flaky skin the frigid temps deliver. Since most of us are at home a whole lot more than usual, why not take a little time to give your skin a little love? Check out these do-it-yourself tips for doing just that!
Start with a clean slate
Just do it with care. It’s still super important to remove all the makeup and debris that can clog pores and result in breakouts. Over-cleansing can also dry out already dry winter skin. Try using a gentle micellar makeup remover to avoid stripping your face of natural oils.
Out with the old, in with the new
Skin cells! Exfoliating regularly can remove dead skin cells and stimulate new cell turnover. Remember, a little can go a long way on winter skin. Don’t over-exfoliate or you could end up irritating your skin, once or twice a week is good. Be sure to moisturize after exfoliating.
Winterize your products
The harsh, cold air drains your skin of moisture, so your ordinary moisturizer might not cut it. Choose a richer, heavier moisturizer for winter to slow moisture loss and protect your skin from the elements.
Go beyond skin-deep
It’s one thing to take care of your skin on the surface in the winter. You should also be feeding your body’s biggest organ from the inside out by making sure you are getting plenty of skin-boosting nutrients like Omega 3, Vitamins A, E, and C. Just like every other part of your system, your skin needs to be hydrated by lots of good ole H2O! So, drink plenty of water every day.
Go easy on the heat
This one may be tough in chilly temps, but try to avoid showering in very hot water, which can dry your skin out almost instantly. Instead, opt for lukewarm water and moisturize immediately after showering.
Sticking to a good skincare regimen in the winter will help your skin look and feel great all year long.
