Top Valentine’s Day Hairstyles
Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching, and you know what that means. It’s time to start planning the perfect look. And let’s face it, whether you’re planning a romantic dinner with your significant other or a fun night out with friends, the right look starts with the right hairstyle! To help you make this sweetheart of a day the best one yet, we’ve rounded up some sweet hairstyles for you to consider.
Messy Updo
There’s nothing wrong with a classic! And this one is timeless. To create the perfect messy updo, start by gathering all of your hair into a high ponytail at the crown of your head and secure it with an elastic. Take sections of the ponytail and twist them loosely around your fingers before wrapping them around the base of the ponytail. Secure each twisted section with bobby pins to keep it in place. Once you’ve secured all the sections, give it a spray of hairspray to keep it in place all night long. Finish off the look with some loose tendrils of hair around your face for a soft, ooh-la-la-look.
Sleek and Shiny Ponytail
This stylish ponytail does double-duty because it’s chic and elegant, yet still looks effortless. To get this look, start by brushing your hair back into a low ponytail at the nape of your neck. Secure it with an elastic band, but make sure to leave some pieces out to frame your face. Pull a small section of hair from the ponytail and wrap it around the elastic band to hide it. Finally, pull out a few strands from the ponytail to give it a bit of texture and volume. There you have it: the sleek and shiny ponytail!
Elegant Chignon
If you’re going for a more sophisticated style, the classic chignon is completely on point. Gather your hair at the nape of your neck and secure it in a low ponytail. Next, separate it into two sections and twist each one separately. Combine the two sections and wrap them around the base of the ponytail to form a bun. Secure the bun with bobby pins and finish off the look with a few spritzes of hairspray. You can also add some decorative hairpins for an extra touch of glamour.
Romantic Side Braid
This style looks especially good on those with longer locks, but it can be created on medium length hair as well. To get the look, start by brushing your hair to one side and then begin to create a three-strand braid. Make sure to keep the braid close to your head, pulling the strands gently for an even tighter braid. Once you reach the end, secure the braid with an elastic, and pull some of the strands from the braid out to give it a softer, messier look. If you want to add a little more romance to your look, you can wrap a piece of ribbon around the end of your braid and tie it into a bow.
Playful Topknot
Valentine’s Day should be playful, and this is a great style to rock. First, collect your hair into a high ponytail at the crown of your head, and secure it with an elastic band. Use a rat tail comb to create a small hole in the middle of the ponytail and gently pull a section of hair through the hole to create a loop. Wrap the ends of the loop around the base of the ponytail and secure it with a few bobby pins. Last step, tease the loop with your fingers and set it with a light-hold hairspray. And that’s as playful as it gets!
